The Life of a Lifetime Piece
At Attico, we choose fabric first: silk, linen, Pima cotton, merino wool, supple leathers. Materials this considered deserve a little ritual in return. Care for them well, and they will outlast every trend they were made to ignore.
Knitwear & Cashmere
Hand wash in cold water with a gentle, pH-neutral detergent, or dry clean for structured knits. Lay flat to dry, away from direct heat and sunlight. Store folded, never on a hanger, to preserve the shape of the shoulders. A cashmere comb will gently lift any pilling after a few wears.
Silk & Delicate Wovens
Dry cleaning is recommended for tailored silk pieces. For simple silk separates, hand wash cold and roll in a towel to remove excess water before air drying flat. Always iron on the reverse side, on a low setting, with a pressing cloth.
Linen
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, or hand wash for pieces with delicate trims. Linen softens and improves with every wash. Steam or iron while slightly damp to smooth its natural texture without flattening it entirely — a little character is the point.
Leather & Leather Trims
Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. Keep away from prolonged sun exposure and moisture, and condition periodically with a leather balm to maintain suppleness. Avoid storing in plastic; a breathable dust bag is best.
Fashion Jewelry
Store each piece separately to prevent scratching, and keep away from perfume, lotion, and water. Wipe down after wear with a soft, dry cloth. Earrings should be kept in their original pouch between wears.
General Guidance
- Always check the care label sewn into your piece — fabric blends may require adjusted care.
- Spot test any cleaning product on an inconspicuous area first.
- When in doubt, professional dry cleaning is the safest way to protect a considered investment.
